Councillor Beales, Cabinet Member for New Homes, Jobs and Community Investment, says:
"Holborn has undergone significant change over the last five years, including the opening of the Elizabeth Line Stations at Tottenham Court Road and Farringdon, alongside more fundamental changes in people’s working patterns and how they interact with the area. The Holborn Vision also focuses on the historic residential communities in Holborn.
Holborn has a reputation for innovation and contributes significantly to Camden economically and socially. Our Draft Supplementary Planning Document celebrates the diversity of the area and by guiding development and investment, connects it so that everyone who lives in, works and visits Holborn can benefit. It sets an ambition for improved public spaces, better streets and to enable us to deliver the inclusive growth that our communities want and need.
I believe that through our extensive consultation we will be able to produce a document that supports Holborn’s success into the future, and I therefore encourage everyone with an interest to attend one of our scheduled events or complete the online consultation."
The document sets out the planning objectives for the area. These include a Holborn that continues to be a place of innovation and commerce, where residential communities are strengthened and one that incorporates climate resilience, demonstrating its commitment to net zero. The transformation of the public realm across the area is a fundamental objective of the Holborn Vision which is also the subject of simultaneous engagement on the Holborn Liveable Neighbourhood Programme.
As the area has a mix of distinct neighbourhoods, the document also takes the opportunity to guide development that responds to the local character balancing the needs of residents, workers and visitors.
The consultation is now open and will run until Monday 1 April 2024 and we want to hear your views. For more information and to complete the consultation visit: https://holbornvision.commonplace.is/
